the holidays have begun...

and the first week has been pretty quiet, especially as the smallest has been ill. But we rediscovered this, which I made a year or two ago and is still popular at quiet moments
children's sudoku!

And we set this up...very engaging, even for someone who didn't look like they wanted to be engaged! We have both picked this up at different times throughout the day and surprised ourselves by finishing our first project already! D is going to put a favourite ornament on it in his room.

I was so enthused I started something new this evening...is that wrong? I don't know. Feels like I shouldn't be doing it alone, but its so pleasing! Hope the novelty doesn't wear off before it gets finished though. I hope I also find a better way to get it off the loom and tidied up...help!

Oh, and I went a bit crazy in the brilliant local art shop and bought some oil pastels, because of some of the projects here, which this picture was loosely influenced by

I love this! My boy is usually wary of all 'art' stuff, but after finishing this he spent ages playing independently with the pastels, smudging them about and scraping them with a fork! Hurrah for new art supplies!
